Our Geotechnical Engineering Services

Geotechnical engineering services help project teams understand subsurface conditions and material performance before design and construction proceed.

WolfPro delivers that understanding across Western Canada: through subsurface investigations, foundation recommendations, slope stability analysis, pavement design, materials engineering, and field monitoring.

Our services span the full geotechnical workflow, from initial site assessment to final monitoring.

01

Subsurface Investigations

Borehole Drilling & Sampling: Core logging, soil recovery, and Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) to determine the vertical profile of soil and rock.

Test Pit Investigations: Cost-effective, shallow-depth exploration to assess soil stratification and seepage.

In-Situ Testing: Data collection to measure soil properties in their natural state.

02

Foundation Recommendations

Deep Foundation Design: Engineering for driven piles, helical piles, and bored cast-in-place piles.

Shallow Foundation Analysis: Designing spread footings and strip foundations for stable soil conditions.

Slab-on-Grade Design: Providing subgrade preparation and structural slab specifications to prevent cracking and differential settlement.

Frost Protection Design: Foundation systems engineered for frost heave, seasonal ground movement, and frost-susceptible soils.

03

Slope Stability & Retaining Walls

Slope Stability Analysis: Evaluating the Factor of Safety for natural and man-made embankments.

Retaining Structure Design: Engineering for retaining walls, MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) walls, and shoring systems.

Riverbank Protection: Specialized hydrotechnical and geotechnical design to prevent erosion and stabilize banks along rivers and drainages.

04

Pavement & Materials Engineering

Pavement Structure Design: Custom designs for municipal roads, heavy-haul industrial access, residential streets, and parking lots.

Compaction Testing & Monitoring: On-site density testing to ensure fill and subgrade materials meet project specifications.

Soil & Aggregate Evaluation: Laboratory analysis including Atterberg Limits (plasticity) and Unconfined Compressive Strength testing.

05

Monitoring

Pile Installation Monitoring: On-site verification of pile depth, torque, and set to ensure load-bearing requirements are met.

Dynamic Cone Penetration (DCP): Rapid, portable testing to assess the strength of in-situ soil and pavement layers.

CCIL Certification for Aggregate & Concrete: Our lab is CCIL (Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories) certified for Aggregate (Type C & D) and Concrete testing (Type Q), providing third-party verification you can trust.

Our Approach

WolfPro begins with field investigation and testing to understand the actual conditions on site. That information is then used to develop practical engineering recommendations for foundations, slopes, pavements, materials, and construction monitoring.

The goal is to support clear technical decisions based on site-specific data rather than assumptions.
