About Hydrotechnical Engineering Services

Water is one of the most demanding variables in any infrastructure project. At WolfPro, we specialize in managing the complex relationship between infrastructure and the natural environment.

Our hydrotechnical and water resources team helps clients across Western Canada design, assess, and secure approvals for assets that interact with water. This includes bridge and culvert crossings on resource roads, dam safety reviews for water storage dams, flood studies, and regulatory authorizations.

From initial design and assessment through regulatory approval, our team helps ensure water-related assets are compliant, safe, and built to withstand a changing climate.

01

Bridge & Culvert Crossings

Flood Frequency Analysis: Utilizing historical data and predictive modeling to determine peak flow rates for design events.

Scour Analysis and Countermeasures: Assessing the potential for water to undermine drainage channels and designing armoring solutions that prevent structural failure.

Climate Change Adaptation: Integrating future precipitation trends into our designs to ensure infrastructure remains viable throughout its full lifecycle.

Inspections: Providing assessments of bridge and culvert crossing conditions.

02

Resource Road Crossings

Stream Crossing Design: Engineering durable culvert and bridge solutions for remote access roads.

Fish-Stream Crossings: Specialized design of “Open Bottom” structures or embedded culverts that maintain natural streambeds.

03

Dam Safety & Water Licensing

Inflow Design Flood Studies: Calculating the maximum flood volume a dam must safely manage to prevent failure.

OMS & Emergency Planning Support: Developing comprehensive Operation, Maintenance, and Surveillance (OMS) manuals and Dam Emergency Plans (DEP) to protect downstream communities and assets.

Pond / Dugout to Dam Conversions: Engineering the upgrades required to bring existing water storage up to regulation “Dam” standards as capacity needs or regulations change.

BC Water Sustainability Act Section 10 & 11 Authorizations: Managing the complex application process for Section 10 (Short Term Use) and Section 11 (Changes in and About a Stream) authorizations under the Water Sustainability Act.

Our Approach

WolfPro approaches hydrotechnical and water resources work by assessing site conditions, water behaviour, infrastructure performance, and regulatory requirements.

Once we understand those factors, we tailor the work to fit, whether that means design studies, inspections, dam safety reviews, emergency planning support, or authorization assistance.

The focus stays on giving clients practical technical support for their water-related infrastructure and approvals.
